Filling in Quote Information and Adding Any Necessary Miscellaneous Costs

Find out how to fill in all the required quote details quickly and accurately.

Scope

Under Scope, complete the following

Select the Job Type

  • Open the Job Type dropdown.

  • Choose either the Build or Replace deck option, or the Reface option

If you select Reface:

  • You may proceed directly to building the deck.

  • No structural selections (such as Joist Material or Joist Spacing) are required.

If you select Build or Replace Deck:

  • Please continue to the Structural Materials section in this guide

Include Fascia That Matches the Decking (Optional)

  • To include matching fascia, check the box (it will turn green with a white checkmark).

  • To exclude it, leave the box unchecked (it will appear white).

Demo Costs

If demolition is required, enter the square feet and Height (feet) of the deck

Logistics

Under logistics, answer each dropdown question:

  1. Is a permit required?

  2. Does this job require an engineer?

  3. Does this job require a septic tank inspection?

Configure New Deck Options (At least one required)

  1. Go to the Configure New Deck Options section

  2. For Option 1, Option 2, or Option 3, select both a Decking Type and a Railing Type from the dropdown lists. Available options depend on each tenant’s setup.

  3. When a railing type that supports multiple rail cap styles is selected, DeckMetrix will prompt you to choose a rail cap in the Additional Railing Configuration section from the available options.

  4. Select the appropriate option from the Rail Cap Style dropdown to continue. For example, when you select Fulton

  5. When you expand any option(Option 1, Option 2, or Option3 ) by clicking the expand arrow, scroll to the bottom of the page.

  6. You will see the Accessories section

Create Deck Box – Structural Materials

Under Create Deck Box, set the height and assign edge types. Then complete the structural selections:

  • The canvas will display the structural options (as shown in the screenshot below).

  • Before using the canvas to draw the deck, select:

    • A Joist Material from the dropdown.

    • A Joist Spacing from the dropdown.

Both selections are required to activate the canvas.

  1. Select Joist Material

    • Open the Joist Material dropdown.

    • Choose either 2x8 or 2x10.

  2. Select Joist Spacing

    • Open the Joist Spacing dropdown next to Joist Material.

    • Choose either 12 or 16.

Add miscellaneous costs

If you would like to add any additional miscellaneous costs that might be necessary for the job: Reminder, this is your cost, not the cost to the homeowner

  1. Locate the Materials ($) field and enter any additional costs in the textbox.

  2. Locate the Labor ($) field and enter any additional costs in the Misc Labor textbox.

    1. Type the value directly into the text box

    2. To adjust with the spinner, click the Up button to increase by 1

    3. Click the down button to decrease by 1

  2. In the text box that appears, type the keyword of the item, for example, Deckbox, Landing, Stair, or Bump-out.
